About Me

The Luxury of Time.

For decades, my life was measured by the school bell. My days were a feat of managing calendars, leading staff, and navigating the vibrant, beautiful chaos of a school community. From nine years teaching in England to many more leading schools in Canada, I’ve lived a dual-passport life that always felt like a balancing act. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned as a principal, it’s this: everyone eventually needs a long recess.

Most know me as the organized leader from Ottawa, but at my core, I’m still the girl who spent her soul-forming summers in Wales. For years, my return trips "home" were a frantic 21-day sprint—a rush to see every face and visit every haunt before the Atlantic called me back.

But the final bell has rung.

I am returning to the UK not as a visitor on a deadline, but as a student of the landscape. I grew up with Coventry in my heart and Wales in my bones, yet I realize I’ve only ever seen the highlights. This time, I’m looking for the footnotes. I want to see how the light hits the valleys at 10:00 AM on a Tuesday when I have absolutely nowhere else to be. No assemblies, no deadlines—just the time to enjoy a proper pint and actually taste it.

This blog is my digital logbook of "all of it." The deep history I missed as a teenager, the slow explorations of hidden corners, and the decadent joy of not being in a rush. If you’re looking for a frantic itinerary, you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you want to see what happens when a career educator finally lets her heart lead the way... welcome to my permanent recess.
