It is quite apt that I am starting my blog on March 1. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus !
Happy Saint David day. If you’re still wondering he’s the patron saint of Wales.
For me, Wales is my second home, especially this cute little village of Llanrhystud, located on the busy A487 between the seaside towns of Aberystwyth and Aberaeron which I will explore later. I spent pretty much every half term holiday and summer holiday here at Greenacres Caravan Park, now called Penrhos Park, but owned by the same family still after all these years.
Nestled in a little valley, this quiet, peaceful park offers a beautiful getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. It’s a place I love so much that I eventually bought two lodges here myself to share the experience with others. (If you’re looking for a step back in time, I’ve put a link to my guest suites at the bottom of this post!)
The beach is only a 20 minute walk away from the site, and for a 20 minute drive inland, you are surrounded by stunning views of wild rugged hills and desolate moorland. You must be a confident driver, however as many of the roads are single track lanes and you never know when you will encounter something coming the other way, (including me riding my bike!).
Llanrhystud village itself has a post office, a small shop, and a Costcutter located at the local garage.
If you take a walk down to the beach, the little church is worth exploring. It dates back to 1852, however is named after St Rhystud which goes back to the 6th Century.
Llanrhystud is a great little spot to base yourself from and stay out of the busier towns in the area.
If you are golfer, there is a championship golf course also located at Penrhos site. A challenging, difficult course designed by British golf architect David Williams. So if you do come, don’t forget your golf clubs!
View my lodges on Facebook. The page is called Caravans in Ceredigion
